Off to the Races!

So I just barely got my SLR working again...but there are still a few bugs happening like....the flash doesn't work and the camera focuses on things far away rather than the front most subject (see pics above)

Freakin camera . . .

My first night in D.C., my new roomies were SO welcoming to me and invited to go to Virginia with them to a Polo game.

Duh.  I went.

We got all dressed up and wore the biggest hats we could find and headed off.

There were some mighty fine dressed people there.  There was this one dude that had pink floral pants on and a pink plaid shirt with a seersucker blazer . . . . and then he left in his Lamborghini.

Whatevs.

It was super fun.  I felt like Eliza Doolittle in "My Fair Lady."

"Come on Dover!  Move your blooming' Aaaaaaaaaaa-ss."

I kept my mouth shut, though and full of pulled pork sandwich.

Pushing your limits...

laurabphoto.blogspot.com

This week, I'm sending in a resume and video sample of my dancing to a contemporary dance company in Maryland called Clancyworks Dance Company.

Wish this girl some luck.

My soul misses the dance.

What the DUCK?

What the Duck?  What is Duck?  Since when do they name a beach after my favorite 90's hockey team?

I love you Emilio Estevez.

Duck Beach.

In short, it's a place where a giant amount of Mormons get their Mormon fix of sun, fun, water, hot tub, diet coke, and the prospect of finding their Eternal Companion (the latter has some sub-categories to that like.....making out in the sand? or back rubs on the midnight beach while stargazing?)

Watch this video to see the BIMBOS that CNN makes us out to be.

This experience has been funny for me.  I kinda just feel like I'm back in Provo again, but now I'm the youngest one instead of the oldest.

I was talking to this dude and once he told me he was born in 77', I started to notice that he had the face of a newborn Shar Pei dog.

Then I really started to peace out when he told me that my first name would go really well with his last name.

Cotton Candy is my FAVORITE!

jcrewwedding-1

Washington D.C. is raining manna on me.

When I first got to the D.C. I instantly went to the J.Crew in Georgetown.

It's my natural instinct . . . I smell No. 2 pencil skirt from a mile away.

I went into the store initially to see if I could transfer to work at their store.

I spoke with the manager and mentioned that I had worked for J.Crew for almost 2 years.

She got really excited . . . so I got excited with her.

She said, "that's perfect because we are looking for someone with experience.  We are needing a bridal specialist!"

I beg your pardon?

I got REALLY excited.

The Georgetown J.Crew has all the wedding and bridesmaids dresses in the store, she says

A bridal specialist works one on one with brides and bridesmaids helping them find the perfect dress and maybe even talking to them about colors, wedding themes, etc, she says.

The appointments are booked for the next three months, she says

I'm sure I had a glazed look on my mouth because I imagined her head as a giant ball of cotton candy I was so excited.

I told her I would LOOOOOVE to be a bridal specialist and she said GREAT, we'd love to have you.

I, Meg, am about the help the world be a better place.

The men are so nice! Toolshed Tuesday no more?

Bad quality : (  Top: J.Crew, Pants: H&M, Necklace: Target, Bracelet: Chico's, Shoes: J.Crew

It's only my second day here, and already the men are so much nicer!

Granted, they are old, potbellied, cigar smokers that push grocery carts around.

You get what you can, right?

Today while I was on my way to a dance class, not one, but three classy with a cigar-y men said kind words to me.

Cigar-y uno: (While I'm getting on the metro and he's getting off) "Ya...you sexy.  You sexy alright."

AL-RIGHT!!!!

Cigar-y dos: (While I'm walking to the dance class and he's washing his car) "Oh well Hello gorgeous."

I thought, "I don't know why this keeps happening!  I look like a drowned rat right now in my dance clothes and nasty hair."  But I will take gorgeous from the sud soaker anyway.

Cigar-y tres: (out of dance class at Einsteins getting lunch...he taps on my shoulder with his wife next to him) "You are beauuuuutiful."

WELL!  Let me pay you off with this bagel kind sir....

Cigar-y quatro: (Walking back to work and "gangsta" on corner says...) "That's a lovely skirt ma'am."

Dang straight!  Let's go meet the parents right now!

I could get used to the cigars....maybe.

disclaimer for the worry minded family members:  Obvi Meg wouldn't take these men to see the parents nor would she buy them bagels....this post is all in jest family....
