Charity Race!!!

My great great friend Jeremy is hosting a really important race in the spring and I just want to give a shout out to him for all the hard work he has put into it.  It sounds like it's going to be a great event.  So read on if you like running, springtime, Asians, helping people, sweating, drinking water, etc!

  • The population in China is currently more than 1,349,000,000
  • That means that the people of China account for more than 20% of the entire world's population
  • The population of the entire Western Hemisphere alone is 900,000,000
  • In America there are about 100,000 orphans
  • In June of 2011 a low estimate revealed that there are more than 712,000 orphans in China, more than any other country in the world
  • Almost all of the orphans in China are infant girls or handicapped boys
  • There are so many orphans in China that there aren't enough people available to take care of them, many orphanages in China have a "dying room," where they place the sickest orphans deemed "unhealable" and wait for them to die.

On April 7th, 2012 starting at 9:00 am we are holding a Charity 5K/10K Race that will be run along the Provo River Trail with 100% of the proceeds going to help the orphans.

Please come join us and have some fun while we "Race for the Orphans"! Registration fee is $25 per persona and every participant will receive a free t-shirt!

Energy bars, sports drinks, and fresh fruit will be provided at the event.
Follow this link to register for the event!

If you aren’t able to participate in the race but would like to make a contribution to the cause, please follow the link below to make an online donation.

I love myself a hipster concert...

Coat: J.Crew, Blouse: J.Crew, Cardi: J.Crew, Dress: Bought out of a van, Tights: Gap, Boots: Antique Cowboy store in Jackson Hole

This dress has the raddest history.

I'm grateful for hipster friends that take me down to South Provo for intimate little house concerts.

Because that's how me and this dress met.

I went to a concert and parked outside the house was this way way retro 70's van painted rust orange and yellow.  Inside the van, a guy was selling some merchandise.

Naturally, I cared more for the musty smelled goods than the better than mediocre music. You've heard one Regina Spector sound alike, you've heard them all.

I saw this dress and (in the most dramatic way ever) it spoke to me.  You ladies understand right?
Men you don't get it.  Clothes speak to us girls.

It was practically begging me to take it off the mothy green velvet hanger.

So I did.  And I paid a whopping 2 dollars for it.

Thank you hipster concerts.

D-moneys day of BIRTH is today

Today is my bestie Danielle's (D-money) birthday.

Remember that one date story I told you about the "Ghost" movie re-enactment?
That was her.

This girl and I have been friends for almost 6 years now.

That's the amount of time it takes to have a baby, make the baby walk, potty train the baby, teach it not to steal things at the store, teach it that broccoli isn't actually a vegetable, but rather fun little trees that want to be eaten, and then finally they're off to kindergarten.

That's a lotta time.

We've been through a lot together.

Freshman year and staying up late.  So late that she woke me up at 5 am one night yelling, "Meg I made out with a boy at the bell tower!" (classic makeout spot round these parts)

There's more....

Stupid boys, crying on the bathroom floor, stealing grocery carts at the BYU creamery, dance parties, pretending to be drunk on the street in Park City, playing in my old dress ups, hiking Zions, going on a cruise, doing karaoke on that cruise to the point where everyone thought we were wasted (yes us mormons do have fun times without the whiskey), shopping at thrift stores, music video making, laughing, getting fro-yo to do some more discussing about stupid boys whilst we eat our feelings.

There is so much more, but I'm sure you have a best friend like this that you can just be your whole self around and they'll still love you.

Happy 24th B-day D!

love, me

Megs Legs

Ignore the taco pits......

I love to dance much much much.

This is an addition to the "What does Meg do in her spare time?" series and was taken yikes---three years ago.  Holy shiz.

Well....here ya go.  I throw my legs up in the air sometimes....saying hey oh gotta let go....

alright...awkward displaying my own leg-ness right now.

You're a 90's kid if.....

The other night my friends and I were in a nostalgic frame of mind.

We started looking up music videos of NSYNC, O-Town, BBMAK, B-witched, Backstreet Boys, etc.  (you get the idea)

Then we googled If you're a 90's kid...  This video came up.  It's kinda long and completely profesh (ha), but there were some parts in there where I sighed for the kiddie days again.

I hate growing up.

Enjoy and laugh at the vid as much as I did akay?

Toolshed Tuesday--wait for reals?

Sweater: J.Crew (mens), Pants: Anthro, Bow Blouse: Thrifted, Hat: Target, Shoes: Anthro

One time, I went on a date.

Shocker.

We went to this quaint little trolley type diner place that had SURPRISINGLY good food.

I got this NUM NUM salad with NUM NUM fries and I was loving life.....and our hot waiter.

When the check came, my date turned to me and said, "uhhhhhhhh....don't hate me. (okay) but I forgot my wallet."

WHAT?

I didn't bring mine.  Obvi.

Good thing I had made friends with the waiter because next thing we knew, we had found out his Dad owned the diner and the dinner was on him.

Thanks waiter, for being the real man in this threesome relationship.

I miss the Holy times

NBD, it's just an ancient wonder of the world.

I had nuttin to write about today -- or any pictures (but those will come soon).

I often find myself thinking about my past memories whether good or bad.

They shape who I am because of where I have been, what I have experienced, and who I have met.

My trip to Israel was one of those times, and I look back at it with fondness daily.

In 2008, I spent 8 precious weeks in Israel, Egypt, and Jordan.  I got to visit all the places that Jesus Christ also was, and I met some INCREDIBLE people along the way.

What are some experiences in your life that have shaped you?

The Fairest of Them All...

A couple of days ago some friends and I were looking at this site that illustrates how Disney Princesses would look if they were real.

When we came upon Snow White, we all gasped and said, Holy Crap that looks like me/you!

Seriously though, If I had no make up on, no bangs, and short hair like her, we would be twins.  Even I can admit that.....

So my friend Aaron took one of my pictures off of facebook, and with a little bit of photoshop transformed my pic to make it look a little bit more like the "real" Snow White pic.

Do you see the resemblance?  I thought is was pretty rad.
Click Here if you want to look at the other "Real Life" Princesses

Happy V-day to ME.....I have the flu.

But is that going to stop me from going and seeing The Vow with not only a box of tissues in hand, but also a rawther LARGE box of chocolates I bought myself at the Rite Aid down the street?

Hecka Hecka NO NO.

I choose a flu frenzy for all my fellow Channing Tatum lovers in the theater over staying in bed with a pounding headache that makes me feel like people are playing darts on my forehead.

In reverence to St. Valentine, here are some more tips to show your lover you love them.  I'll be doin some of em mee-self as well.

1. Create a Romantic Picnic indoors:  Instead of wasting time with reservations and stuffy restaurants full of unwarranted PDA, create a sultry setup right in the comfort of your own home!  I know I'm doing that tonight....can't wait.

2. Make a bubble bath with rose petals and scented candles-  Oo la la....I'll be waiting to do this one until I have a more permanent situation in my life, but for all you other folks....hey hey hey!

3. Use pet names:  Listen.  I know it sounds cheezer but again, girls eat that crap up.  They love being called sweetie.

4. Play with eachothers hair:  Girls love it.  Boys love it.  We all love it.

5. Sing them a cute valentines day love song: I imagine that happening to me, and then I imagine my self swooning.  I've always wanted to swoon.....

Happy V-day you guys.

So I totes forgot.....

So......I totes (I just recently discovered abbreviations and I actually only say it because I think it's rather strange that peeps say "totes" instead of totally...I mean...it's not like it's hard to say totally)

ANYWAY....

I forgot to announce the winner of my vintage dress giveaway!  If you didn't win this time....don't worry.  I'm doing a vintage item giveaway every week for a while.

How does she know???

Coat, blouse, trousers, necklace, purse: J.Crew (Obsessed?), Shoes: Facade c/o Pamela Metcalf.

With Valentines Day coming upon us, the LOVE WITCH (me guys) wants to offer some advice for showing how much you love your lover/s....plural if you roll that way I guess.

We'll do my first 5 tips today.

1- Kiss him/her on the forehead.  Maybe it's just me, but I'm pretty sure girls eat that crap up.  Love it.

2- Create a "I love/like you because.... list."  Who doesn't want to know why people think they're so grand?

3- Make heart shaped pancakes or cookies.  Truly.  Pancakes are much more fun to eat when in a darling shape.

4- Excuse eachothers mistakes.  This one has become really important for me recently.  I'm not perfect so why should I expect my lover to be.  Aight?

5- Rub his/her feet.  Seriously....such a charity.  I hate feet, but I would do it if I REALLY loved him.

For NARNIA! And for Aslan!

You cannot tell me that this scene doesn't look like NARNIA. (It's Italy)

I feel like if this picture was widened I would see Aslan walking off in the distance like a good lion does.

I have a bucket list and on that bucket list is to travel the world before I die.

Let us be honest with one another and safely say that is on EVERYONES bucket list.

There are so many great places to see in this world and so many different ways to BE IN the world.

I want to take advantage of it.....as soon as I have a bunch of money through teaching young children dance.  YA RIGHT.

Somehow I'll find a way.

What places would you DIE to go to?

Always have been Always will be....

I'm obsessed with bows.

One time, my mom told me I came out of the womb with a bow on my head.  Fer reels....

I particularly love this last picture, and desperately want to know how to do it.

The final product is GAWJUS, but I need to journey, the process, the CONCEPTION!

Can anyone offer me any assistance?

P.S. Last day to enter my vintage dress giveaway!  Winner announced tomorrow night!

Sad News For Allllll....

My photo taking friend decided to move away from me.

It's hard to get pictures now.  Obvi.

Good news is that she moved to my home town.  Bad news is a) Shes gone b) I can only go up there on the week end to take pics because I am MAD BUSY this semester.

At any rate.  You now must deal with instagram pictures every now and again.

Did you see the Super bowl ad last night that included all the inventors of famous apps, including the guy who invented instagram?

Blessings bestowed on your head, sir.

Arachnophobia. Yikes.

More Dance pics!  Woot Woot.

This is more of a post dance pic.  So you see that spider web on my face?  Now, take that a step further and imagine this really tight shiny unitard hood thinger that made me look like a "thing" rather than a spider, but was really meant for me to look like a spider.

That's what high school dance team does to you.  They make you do weird crud.  The year before, we were lions being hunted by she-mans.  But heck, we one first at state.  You gotta do what you gotta do.

These are my sisters who came to support their own wacko sister.  Love them.
